6 Months old!!

Dear Izzy,

You are six months and 1 day old now and you are growing up so quickly! You are at such a lovely age, where you’re learning new things; it’s amazing to watch you. We started weaning you on the 24th February (Mama's Birthday). Your first ever taste of food was baby rice. You weren't quite sure what to do with it, but you still got really excited and seemed to enjoy it! That was just less than three weeks ago, and since then you have tried:

*Banana

*Apple

*Pear

*Potato

*Swede

*Carrot

*Porridge

Your favourite seems to be either Banana or Apple mixed with your porridge at the moment. You get really excited, and throw yourself forwards with your mouth open, and kick your little legs. You're amazing.

You have started to sit up on your own a bit recently too! You are getting so strong! Mummy still sits fairly close behind you at the moment because you do still flop over sometimes, but practice makes perfect!!

You still giggle and smile at us all the time and we are always getting lovely comments about what a happy baby you are! One of the funny things that seem to make you giggle at the moment is people waving to you! You think it’s brilliant! I have been doing it at every opportunity lately, waving whilst saying 'Hello' or 'Bye bye', I don’t think it'll be long before you copy!

I think I mentioned in my last email that your favourite songs at the time were '5 Little speckled frogs' and '5 Little men in a flying saucer’... well you seem to have outgrown these now, your current favourite is 'Jar of Hearts' which isnt even a baby song, you do like 'Twinkle Twinkle little star' at the moment too though!

We can definitely see some little teeth looking very ready to pop through your gums, and you have been so brave even though they seem to have been causing you a fair amount of grief!

Every day at the moment you seem to do something new, whether it’s reaching in different directions for toys, trying a new food or making a new sound, it’s incredible to see you learn. Your speech is amazing, and has everyone giggling; you really do make some of the funniest noises! You’re most recent sounds like a car screeching to a stop, and you also like to blow raspberries!! Yesterday you started saying EEE III EEEE IIII too, so I can only assume you're learning to sing 'Old Macdonald had a farm'.

You're a bit poorly at the moment, so having lots of Calpol and cuddles to make you feel better; I really hope it passes soon because we all hate knowing you’re not as happy as you possibly can be!

So, that’s half of your first year gone by already! I have no idea where the past 6 months have gone, but I’m looking forward to every second of the next six, and onwards!

We love you to the moon and back!

All the love and cuddles in the world,

Mummy and Daddy xxx

The big day!

Well today is the day I've been waiting for yet dreading for the past few months. Operation day. I've had a terrible nights sleep with some of the most taunting nightmares, and had to get up at stupid o clock to eat something small before my 'food deadline'. I am absolutely clawing the walls for a coffee but that would be against the rules :(
My feelings about this are a mixture of utter fear and anger.  I have never been put to sleep before in my life, and the thought of what they are going to do almost makes me faint every time it enters my head, but its the fact that i shouldn't have to be worrying about any of this that really bothers me. If they had done it right in the first place, none of this would need to be happening. Then i have another wonderful 6 weeks of recovery, where apparently i will be in more pain than the weeks following birth, as its old scar tissue they will be messing with. So it's back to struggling to stand and sit and get into the bath, and walk and generally get on with my life and caring for my beautiful girl for several weeks after today, all for someones careless mistake under poor supervision.
Luckily my mum has managed to book today off from work, and tomorrow apart from a couple of hours, so she is coming to the hospital, and taking care of Isabelle while I'm in theatre, then I'm going back to her house tonight.
I really hate this. It's like all those months i felt being petrified of labour cant yet end. The thing is, when your in labour, you would pretty much let them do anything to you to get that baby out, you just don't care, and you have all of the excitement that your baby is finally on his/her way, which takes over a lot of the fear. Then afterwards, if stitches are needed, you have the distraction of your little bundle to make it easier. This, however, has been 13 weeks of me thinking about what they are going to do in great detail, knowing that it's going to make things hard for Isabelle and I for a while, which is a horrible thought.
The pain i have been in lately though, and the fact that i have been bleeding almost constantly since she was born are the things that I'm concentrating on. I just hope this fixes both of those things.
I suppose at least the end is in sight now! Wish me luck!
